An Introduction to Venetian Blinds

When you are looking for a versatile, stylish and durable solution for covering your windows, venetian blinds given their good looks, technical properties and competitive prices could be just what you require.

A venetian blind is an arrangement of flat thin aluminium strips connected via ladder shaped cords which hold the slats in place and allow them to rotate. By using the tilt control, the slats can be rotated to allow them to overlap completely, blocking out the sunlight or completely open or lifted up to give an unobstructed view of the outside world. This system of shading also enables you to decide how much light enters the room and its direction.

We provide our Venetian Blinds fitting throughout Hertfordshire including Hoddesdon, Broxbourne, Cheshunt, Ware, Hertford, Royston and Bishops Stortford.

Apart from being incredibly functional, venetian blinds are a popular choice thanks to the huge range of colours and finishes available. The finishes range from plain white through to every colour of the rainbow and then some, be it matt, gloss, metallic, sparkling, pearlescent, wood effect, striped, perforated, textured and even mirror finished, there is a colour to suit every environment.

One of the advantages of using metal venetian blinds is that not only are they perfectly at home in the lounge, dining room, bedroom and office, they are the perfect addition to any kitchen or bathroom, due to them being unaffected by dampness in these rooms unlike some other forms of blinds.

They also will not fade or lose their shape from being exposed to the sun or the elements. Venetian blinds are also excellent for maintaining your privacy, just angle the slats to control the light and also how much can be seen from the outside.

Because of their slimline profile, venetian blinds can be fitted where other styles cannot, for instance on internally opening doors where there may not be sufficient clearance for a roller blind, a venetian blind can be the perfect solution, even hold down clips can be used on the bottom of the blind to keep it in position when the door is opened and closed.

Venetian blind slats are available in four sizes, 16mm, 25mm, 35mm and 50mm, the most popular being the 25mm, combining this with the flexible fitting positions of either being fitted inside or outside of the window recess or top fixed to the ceiling or using special extension brackets enabling them to be fitted to upvc conservatories and avoiding the window handles, they are an extremely popular and flexible choice of window covering.

Being able to be manufactured into so many different sizes from very narrow with a very long drop or very wide with a very short drop and every size in between, and with the vast array of colours and styles available, it is very easy to see why venetian blinds are such a popular addition to so many homes, schools and offices.
